Experienced Electronics Technician (full time – 40hrs p/w)

Role Overview:
We are seeking an Electronics Engineer to support the development and production teams and perform maintenance of electronic systems used across Vapourtec’s product range. The role will involve working closely with mechanical, software, and applications teams to deliver robust, reliable, and manufacturable electronic solutions for laboratory instrumentation.
This is a hands-on role combining design, problem-solving, and practical engineering and batch testing within a regulated, safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Testing and Validation
- Build and test prototypes and production electronics
- Perform fault-finding and root-cause analysis on electronic assemblies and systems
- Batch testing electronics for production use
- Support verification and validation activities, including EMC and safety testing
- Assist with design documentation and change control
Manufacturing and Support
- Support transition from prototype to production
- Work with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve electronic issues and obsolescence
- Provide technical support for production, servicing, and field issues as required
- Contribute to continuous improvement of existing products
- Work with production technicians to document processes
Documentation and Compliance
- Produce and maintain technical documentation (schematics, BOMs, test procedures)
- Support compliance with relevant standards (e.g. CE, UKCA, EMC, Low Voltage Directive)
- Follow internal quality and design control procedures
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent experience as an electrical technician) in Electronics Engineering or related discipline
- Experience designing and troubleshooting electronic circuits
- Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics fundamentals
- Experience working with microcontroller-based systems such as microchip
- Ability to use standard lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies)
- Practical, hands-on approach to engineering problem-solving
Desirable:
- Experience with PCB design tools (e.g. gerber viewers)
- Familiarity with embedded systems and communication protocols (I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, RS485)
- Experience designing electronics for instrumentation, automation, or industrial equipment
- Understanding of EMC, ESD, and electrical safety considerations
- Experience supporting products through manufacture and lifecycle change
