Vapourtec is thrilled to have partnered with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Innovations in Peptide and Protein Science (CIPPS) to provide technology and expertise for the synthesis of peptides and proteins in continuous flow.
Funded by the ARC and international partners, CIPPS was established to discover and develop new peptides and proteins for use in medicine and agriculture. By collaborating with key international partners, CIPPS has brought international experts in the peptide community to the team.
Vapourtec will be contributing to this project by providing world-class technology and support for solid-phase synthesis of proteins and peptides in continuous flow (CF-SPPS), which will allow for a more efficient synthesis of peptides, while providing valuable real-time data to evaluate difficult sequences, which supports the CIPPS goal of building an automated protein synthesiser.
Vapourtec’s Director, Duncan Guthrie, commented: “We are delighted to have partnered with our Australian colleagues in this exciting new project. Biomolecules have been in the spotlight in recent years, and facilities such as the CIPPS are going to expand their applications in medicine and other areas such as agricultural pesticides. We have extensive experience in the synthesis of peptides and proteins, and we are very excited to support CIPPS.”
With the current interest from governments to restrict the use of DMF, which are key solvents for SPPS, continuous flow offers an alternative and unique opportunity for not only a more efficient synthesis, but for a better understanding of reaction kinetics in new solvents.
The official launch is due to take place on Monday 22nd of August at the University of Queensland.
