Over the past ten years, photochemical transformations of molecular building blocks have grown to be a significant and well-established study area. A wide range of applications for synthetic organic chemistry were made possible by a thorough and in-depth understanding of novel photochemical catalysts and reaction ideas using visible light as the energy source. Parallel to this, continuous flow chemistry and micro reaction technology emerged as the foundation for new ways of thinking about and approaching chemistry, with a focus on enhanced process control for more conversion and selectivity. By fusing chemistry and technology, both study areas have discovered each other as unusually well-suited counterparts with high synergy, as seen by the vast number of scientific publications on flow photochemistry in recent years. A brief summary of a few reaction classes will be provided in this review.
