Continuous flow technology has been recognized as a valuable and widely utilized approach across academic and industrial laboratories. The safe and on-demand generation of reactive intermediates by means of miniaturized flow set-ups has been considered particularly valuable for enabling safer and more streamlined synthetic routes that afford important chemical building blocks. In this focused review, an update is provided on recent studies in which photochemistry, metalation reactions, and electrochemistry have been employed to generate a variety of reactive intermediates. Successful implementations of flow processing are showcased, and areas where further opportunities exist are also identified.
