Last month, Dr Manuel Nuño installed another Peptide-ExplorerLT for fast-flow solid phase peptide synthesis (FF-SPPS). For the next two-months the Bachem UK (St Helens) site will be equipped with Vapourtec’s unique Variable Bed Flow Reactor (VBFR) technology for FF-SPPS. Dr Gavin Noble and Rebecca Sweeney at Bachem will be evaluating the technology by synthesizing challenging peptides.
Manuel commented: “Vapourtec’s unique offering for flow SPPS is seeing excellent traction from two important sectors, Big Pharma and CROs. By offering evaluation opportunities the Vapourtec team has been able to demonstrate some of the unique benefits Vapourtec VBFR technology brings over traditional batch methods. “
During the product training undertaken by Dr Nuño, the team at Bachem were immediately taken by the fast cycle times, and the unique insights into synthesis, including detailed analysis of aggregation events and quantification of Fmoc group removal.
We are excited to work with Bachem, a leading, innovation-driven company specializing in the development and manufacture of peptides and oligonucleotides, to demonstrate the advantages of FF-SPPS for their applications, stay tuned!
Dr Gavin Noble: “Innovation is the foundation on which the success of Bachem is built upon and we continuously evaluate new technologies for the chemical manufacture of peptides. As the peptide market is maturing, so the complexity is increasing, and having a clear understanding of the fundamental processes that occur during SPPS process steps is key to efficient peptide production. We are excited to evaluate FF-SPPS as offered by Vapourtec, in particular the capacity for continuous monitoring, to gain further information on the production of challenging sequences”.
