Synthesis of some Ionic Liquids (ILs) is challenging and costly because of the extremely exothermic nature of the synthesis and the change in viscosuity during the synthesis.  Purity is often dependent on even temperature control and hence bath synthesis methods are often very slow and requrie removal of dilution solvents afterwards.
