As part of our ongoing application notes dedicated to continuous stirred-tank reactors(CSTR), we demonstrate the suitability of these reactors for biphasic reactions, where mixing is critical.
The biphasic esterification of an aldehyde via Stevens oxidation was scale up using a cascade of CSTRs, while keeping fast reaction times of ~1 minute and achieving a throughput of the desired building block of over 5 kg/day.
