Vapourtec joins panel discussion on the future of flow in Chemistry Today

Date: 1 September 2022 | Category: News

Dr Manuel Nuño, Vapourtec’s Chief Scientific Officer, was recently featured in Chemistry Today. As part of a panel discussing flow chemistry, Manuel joined other established members of the chemistry community to provide an overview of current flow trends, offering a unique insight into the recent features of continuous processing from an industrial perspective.

Manuel’s contribution, entitled ‘The future of flow chemistry, smart high throughput experimentation and scale up’ discusses the evolution of the flow chemistry industry and continuous processing. During the panel discussion, Manuel highlighted the many advantages of flow over batch chemistry, including increased productivity and process control. He also focused on the importance of automation in enabling further developments within high throughput experimentation efficiency.

Looking to the future and the promising developments, alongside the challenges, that lie ahead for the flow field, Manuel explains that ‘flow chemistry is still an evolving field, and the years to come are going to be very exciting. The two biggest challenges in the coming years will focus on large scale processes, and how autonomous flow chemistry platforms can become a tool for chemists to use in their reaction optimisation studies and library syntheses.”
